Is this a new laptop or a old one, If its new it should of came with trial antivirus software. what's wrong with your internet, are you trying to connect through wireless or through an eithernet cable. What OS are you running and what do you mean to reboot it all?

no its a used 1 and i want to reboot it (delete all files and reprogram it)but i dont have any programs to restore it with and im worried when i get it back together somehow that the internet wont work but its wireless

simple... I have done it numerous times already... follow this step by step it should help and it's easy. CybertronPC Support: Clean Install Procedure for Windows XP Home

after the rebooting has finish, try to get your hands on this program "driver genius" what it does; downloads all of the latest drivers for your hardware. And if is a known brand laptop (dell, toshiba, compaq, etc) just go to their website and download the require updates for your laptop... 1st thing you should is install a anti virus program... good luck

where would i get the driver genuis from??? my laptop is a acer azspire 3690

You mean reformat, You need to have a copy of windows XP and make sure your bios is set to load form disc first.

If you have a copy of xp that came with the comp than your good but if you don't search for the drivers you need first and put it on flash drive so in case you reformat and windows won't recognize your wireless card or eithernet port you can just install em from the flash drive
