it would help to know what OS you were running
assuming it's XP check this site out:
Cure A Virtual Memory Shortage in Windows XP

as far as the popups inside the text area for posting that sounds like spyware/malware issues to me. if i HAVE to use a windows OS i like the AVG software as far as virus protection and malware protection go. for spyware i like adaware. there are free copies of all of this software.

it's recommend that you boot your computer in safe mode, this will disable internet access and you first start by running adaware. then reboot and try it again, also install be sure to get your virus scanner up to date and running in safe mode as well.
