u have the tripod one? with the 3 stones? if so i suggest also getting the beads so u can get a xhatching on your block! dont use the 3 stones for long, just lube the sleeves and give it a quick spin to clean teh sleeves ... b4 u do that make sure u dont have to get it ridge reemed... then take the honing beads and lube and hone it, this will allow the rings to seat properly

if the bore at teh top of the cylinder is smaller than the bore in the middle then yeah but usually its not, you should be fine,

and to the comment of blowing your motor honing your block by your self idk what you been doing but ive put together alot of set ups in my backyard and havent had any problems only thing i send blocks out to do is over bore and get cleaning if they need to be

i just searched youtube for u this should give u an idea, basically all u need to hone the block for is to ensure propper seating of the rings on my sr20 blocks sometimes when i take them apart the hatching is still there and i get away with not honing the block

YouTube - cylinder honing class

as long as the cly are true and have no chips, cracks or gauges in the it honing by hand is ok. do not beast on it either be sure not to bend it in any angle your trying to go str8 in and out, with out uneven pressure.....

gap your rings after you hone because some material will be removed and you want o make sure the ring gap is with in specs. i do not like the tri pod one.
make sure you use some lube on it while using the hone like wd40 or some shit like that
