Rod bearing clearance issue

I started assembling my Ls block yesterday and ran into some rod bearing clearance issue. I am using Acl Duraglide bearings. Now #1 and 2 clyinder checked out fine at .001. But i am having trouble with the # 3 and 4 bearings. #4 has way too much clearance it was between .003-.002. Than #3 was way to tight it was over .001 to the point where i couldnt spin the crank because of it. Now my rods have been reconditioned because i'm using ARP rodbolts.

I was thinking of switching over to Oem bearings but didnt really have a clue on choosing the right color clearances? Can any give me some insights on it i really appreaciate it thanks.

you are sure that all of them are ls rods? How are you removing the rod caps? if you are hammering the arp studs down that could cause it to read tight.

it happened to me before. as for the loose one i cant think of anything right now.

Use a bigger bearing. Bearings are different sizes. I personally use honda oem bearings because theyve been proven to 200000+ miles

take your crank to the machine shop and let them measure the crank journals and the ID of the big end of the rods. after you get your mearsurements, click the link that xsenceo89x posted and go from there.

imo, rods 1 and 2 are too tight for my likings.

if you need any more advice or help, you can pm me or just ask again here

time to do some math. get a digital micrometer and start measuring. your going to need this formula:

I checked that once i knew about it, the oem bearings for my mains will work fine. Since i'm still using my factory main bolts. But my rods i'm using Arp rodbolts, and my rods been resized. So the oem bearings color wouldnt really work out? I'm probably going to need thinner ones due to Arp higher torque spec over oem ones.

Plus all the ACL bearings that i plastiguage with were all to thick and out of specs even on the mains. Did any of you guys had this problem??
