Lightbulb 1 Way B20 Can successfully Prevent Sale of Stolen Motors/Trannys *FEEDBACK WELCOMED*

I've had an idea for a long time about how to stop/locate stolen motors & trannys that have vins...
im gonna contact the mods for this:

b20 should have a database of motor/tranny vins that belong to members..
if u look on ebay or honda-tech, they put pictures of email addresses next the parts to prove they
have the item in thier possession, also even if someone trys to use the pics the email still goes to the owner (person whos email is there) if you have a motor/tranny in your car take a photo of your b20 sign-on or maybe a face picture or watever that identifies you to your motor/tranny...now the Mods can decide if the info is made public or not...& in the event the owner sells the motor/tranny at least now it will have a history of transfer i.e (prev owner to serial#)

Now i know what your thinking, theres gonna be all kinds of disputes & B.s. that will arise outta doing this but consider this, if a thief now KNOWS that he may have a hard time selling what he stole or even get caught lovely or worse being made public ..chances are this shyt will slow down...I doubt it will completely stop though..

Think about it..

1. IF (god forbid) your car gets stolen, now u have some peace of mind the thief will have a tough time selling your motor/tranny parts, maybe even get back to u by a potential buyer who checks your vins/serial # against our own little database & contacts you that he/she just seen sum 1 else trying to bump it off..either way, ITS HARDER FOR THIEVES

2. Just the fact there is a database of stolen motors out here may deter thieves from taken them & using them..EITHER WAY ITS HARDER FOR THIEVES

3. After proofreading my post i realized the mods couldnt make this public information at all for security reasons..i.e now everyone knows what motor u have in your car by the vin/serial#...BUT, making it private is better, bc now thives wont know what car has his info in the database, a bone stock civic , or a completely built drag car, could be a riced out crx, or a 13 sec sleeper , the fact that its private means EVERY SINGLE CAR ON THE STREET THEY ARE THINKIN ABOUT STEALING THEY HAVE TO CONSIDER THAT IT MIGHT BE IN THE DATABASE.................**EITHER WAY ITS HARDER FOR THIEVES**

4. if your potentially looking to buy a motor now there will be a way to check if its been reported stolen w/o going to a police station ( I would still recommend checking w/ Autocrime though) & this way the databse will verify the person your buying from is the original owner or one of the registered database owners***EITHER WAY ITS HARDER FOR THIEVES***

***This thread is open for opinions pros/cons, bumps, wateva i just want the fukin stolen car shyt to STOP cuz the game is getting way too outrageous***

BUMPS WELCOME

OPINIONS WELCOME

THIEVES UR WELCOME TO COMMENT TOO CUZ I KNOW UR READING THIS U CAN NOW:

dealing with someone personally... meeting up with them basically eliminates the possibility of scamming of an item in which the seller does not possess... though there still is the chance someone might "scam" you in misrepresenting the item. but thats up to you in knowing what you're dealing with.

also... b20vtec.com support thieves?

i didnt quite know that considering this website neither pays anything to or receives anything from thieves...

its people that support thieves... simple as that... as long as thieves have buyers they'll continue what they're doing

also... b20vtec is the only car forum with a stolen car database.

and b20vtec is the only website that has rules as far as posting VIN/serial numbers for creating threads in the "Engines, Transmissions, Swaps, Heads, Blocks" section

yes people have been posting threads in there without VINs...
some threads will get past moderators.

now here's my question.... if someone doesnt post VINs in their FS thread... why would any of you reply to that thread?

which proves my point again that people support thieves... some of you willingly don't care and will try and deal with that person regardless of them not posting VINs... so why should they care to post VINs the next time around?

the only thing that this whole topic is going to do is keep the honest people honest... it essentially does nothing to curb theft.

if you want to do that... you need to create a B20Vtec.com Official Joint Task Force or something.... B20Vtec.com Neighborhood Watch Program.

**The point of this particular thread is to have a database of serial# & vins ON THE B20VTEC WEBSITE, the pictures of the motor NEXT TO THE OWNERS EMAIL ADDR, PHONE#, AND B20 SIGN-ON....the reason for this:

1.Our members can check out if they are buying a stolen motor..

2. If the motor is listed in OUR b20 database as stolen theres a HIGHER chance of the thief getting caught, hence less thieves on the street, u think they dont talk to each other about this idea??? once two or three or four of they boys getting locked up or attacked cuz they got caught with stolen goods (motor/tranny wateva) do u honestly think they gonna continue to risk getting killed or jailed just to make a few dollars??? nope.

3. The reason this idea should be implemented is because its 100% user friendly... if someone wants to be lazy & not send in thier info thats they choice... this database can actually DRAMATICALLY INCREASE THE CHANCE OF GETTING BACK STOLEN PROPERTY.

4.Since the mods will only have access to the database, & since b20 requires vins to be posted or the thread will be deleted, moderators can contact the owner of the stolen item directly bc the info provided by the owner is on file.

5.I personally dont agree with C-Rex comment about this SITE supporting thieves...however there are thieves on this site, & every other site for that matter. its the internet people. home of the most scams in the world so you have to use judgment with who it is u deal with. POINT BLANK

6.The most valuable part of this idea is this: thieves wont know who knows about this database.. so if they steal a stock Rsx in the hamptons, & the kid just so happened to list his cars info here, & a b20 member sees it for sale through a site or word of mouth or wateva, & runs vins through us & finds out its hot.. not only can the owner be made aware, but now the police can be made aware of the contact info of the person selling the item, possibly even location, description, address.. thieves tend to sell stuff through other people, so now dudes will think twice about selling something for they boys if they not sure of the origin. HENCE curbing the market for theft.

Lastly, I came up with this SOLELY to try to thwart theft, or at least make it as difficult as possible to have a money market for stolen motors/trannys..MODS if u dont believe this will work, fine. i ask that u guys try it first though... lets keep this 100.. its no secret this site has a reputation for stolen parts/ thieves / wateva... its to the point cops/autocrime monitors this site EVERYDAY..it costs nothing but storage space & computer programming code to implement this idea.. so if u guys are considering this idea feel free to pm me....

Thanks in Advance

The mods of B20 should just have direct access to the stolen motor database. When you go to post a motor you should HAVE to enter a serial number or vin of some sort i agree 100percent..B20 should REQUIRE the engine or car to go through the stolen motor/car database before it is published to the public. If motor comes back stolen then it shouldnt be posted..unless other things apply. then you would have to access all public info like where you got it from and why you have it..i could see somebody going to the junk yard and buying a stolen motor but you have to have some type of paperwork or phone number.

Sounds like a great idea tho the only thing is thieves have there own customers meaning the/cheap/noobs/and fellow b20 members these people don't care if the motors a hot boy if people just stop supporting them then this wouldn't be an issue case close
