bucking on turbo'd y8
ok searched and found 1 thread that was "kind of" like my problem and everyone said get a tune but heres the problem.
I put a turbo set up on my 96 ek coupe with a d16y8. boosting 6psi. i have colder spark plugs(NGK bkr7e's). now it started fine, idled great. took it for a test drive hit 3500 got to full boost then i let off. all of a sudden when i go to let out the clutch it would buck and jerk and almost die. I had to rev it up to about 4K and let out the clutch every time to make it back and I constantly had to push in the clutch cuz the rpms would drop. when i popped my hood the turbo was smoking... I know for a fact its getting oil(it may not have been enough tho) my tank is half full with 87 I know i should run 93 I knew it would run like crap but i didn't think it would be THAT bad. and my spark plug gap is at .028 someone said that was good for boost(was i misinformed?) EDIT:Found out the problem. my spark plug gap was WAY to small .028 was not correct. I changed them to about .048 and fixed my vacuum lines made a mistake runs good now no problems. thanks for all the help guys. Last edited by JK19; 09-28-2009 at 09:59 AM. |

its a normal size feed line its the same size as the one on my boys turboed bubble so I know the feed line is good I think the oil restricter might not be letting enough oil in, and my return line is huge. but if I blown the seals wouldnt it leak oil into the exhaust and intercooler piping?
