Sometimes cars which have had accidents previously with non salvage clean regular titles in others states and when those cars are registered in NYC and their titles are sent to motor vehicle to be put under your name, NYC motor vehicle send you a letter saying that the car must be salvage inspected.

In addition to that, I will always recommend to salvage inspect a vehicle here in NYC. Many people like to inspect vehicle in other states because the title comes back quicker and the inspection process is not that complex as it is in NY. Let’s say, you salvage inspect a car in New Jersey. There is a 95% of a chance that if you try to register in New York that same car will have to be salvage inspected again in NY. Even after it has been previously NJ salvage inspected. In the other hand, if your car is salvage inspected in NY, the title will NOT have any problems with being registered in any other states or place in the world. So, like I say, Always get you vehicle salvage inspection in New York. It is safer and it will save you a headache in the future!!! Bump this thread!!!!!!

THIS IS TRU IF U GET A CAR THAT WAS STOLEN IN ANOTHER STATE AND HAVE A CLEAN TITLE THE DMV PUT ALL OUT OF STATES TITLE TO A CAR FAX AND IF THEY SEE THE CAR WAS STOLEN BEFORE THE PULL U TO SALVEGE INSPECTION

This is very true. Autocrime took my EK back in may of 2006 and got it back in feburary of 07. I had to take it for NYS inspection even though i had a clean title. They took my motor tranny and 2000 front. Ok decided to build it up again. Went back for another inspection in june of 07 with receipts of jdm motor and tranny and aftermarket front and they still didn't want to pass inspection cuz the motor and tranny had no vyn's. i explained to them that it was a jdm motor so they told me that i needed to get a receipt from were the company were i bought it from got it from. So i said forget it and ended up sell'n everything. So g/l when u go for inspection. Oh by the way this happen in elmsford NY.
